At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

As many of you know, my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's about 4 years ago. We've watched this horrible disease eat away at him, turning him from a once proud man, a bloke who could do anything, solve any problem... into somebody who can't even make a cup of tea. He's got Frontal Lobe Dementia, an aggressive form of the disease that zaps speech. It also means even the simplest of tasks are out of his capabilities.

This disease needs more research, one day many of us will suffer this cruel ending.

October is the month for 'Stoptober' so I'm going to keep off Facebook for a whole month. I'm an addict, every two seconds I'm looking for those little red notification lights of love, checking status updates and uploading random thoughts and photos. I often abuse friends, post sarcastic remarks and have been known to poke abuse at various people on a regular basis. My political incorrectness isn't something to boast about (do one if you're offended) but I enjoy it.

From October the first I'll be changing my Facebook password (Linsey will make a new one), that way I won't be able to sneak on. My account will remain active and as long as you lot keep the  donations coming in I'll stay off until November 1st.

In essence if you want to keep me off Facebook then you'd better donate to this worthy cause.... if not the fat people will be abused.
