Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit The Ian White Fund JustGiving page. My husband Ian died of a Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) brain tumour in April 2008. He was 41 and died within 3 months of diagnosis. Having witnessed first-hand the symptoms and progression of this disease, I want to raise money to help find effective treatment for this devastating condition.
I'd also like to raise awareness of brain tumours as we had a real battle to get our GP to refer Ian to a consultant for a scan - and we are not the first to experience this. The money raised via the Ian White Fund will go specifically to help fund research into GBM. Ian's illness raised both of our awareness of the wonderful work that charities do, and he was very keen to donate more of his time and money to good causes. Sadly, he never got his chance, so this is my way of helping him to realise that ambition.Ian was a keen horse rider and loved eventing his horse Moose. Every year we hold the Ian White Memorial Trophy at Smith's Lawn Horse Trials, Windsor. The trophy is aimed at amateur owner/riders competing at BE100 (pre-novice) level. Three trophies are awarded plus fabulous prizes from our fantastic sponsors. Please visit the British Eventing website for more details.
