Story

Following on from last year raising over £2500 (including gift aid and JM match funding) by running the London Marathon, I am moving on to a bigger challenge, 100km Thames Path Ultra. I am aiming to complete the challenge as quickly as I can so lets see how it goes.

In March I completed the Hardmoors 55, a 53 mile run down the Cleveland way from Guisborough to Helmsley with ~ 2300m elevation gain. So the Thames Path with ~300m in 100km will be a very different challenge.

The Team was established in 1965 and normally have around 45 – 50 Search and Rescue Team Members (including probationers) who are on call 24-hours a day every day of the year. We also have approximately 20 Support Team members assisting all aspects of the team but especially fundraising and acting as casualties.

We are all volunteers; we have no paid staff and our services are offered free to anyone who needs them. We are reliant on the generosity of local people and groups to cover the £42,000 it costs to run the Team every year.
