Story
Well, I did it !!! It wasn’t pretty and it was slow but I didn’t stop running once ( although it felt sometimes that people walking were going quicker than me ) ...i overtook the man in the Rhino outfit, the Mr Men and the Bagpuss but was pipped at the line by a man in a Pink Lady apple outfit ! ( seriously !! )
Truly one of the most extraordinary experiences I have ever been part of .....the crowds were going nuts everywhere, especially going past the pubs ! The last two miles felt longer than the previous twenty four as my legs cramped but the crowds just carry you along shouting and screaming to keep one foot plodding in front of the other ......absolutely incredible.
I ran the 26.2 miles to raise money for The Light Fund and The Children’s Trust Hospital. I am one of the founders of The Light Fund, sparked by an idea back in 2004 to create a industrywide charity body that would raise monies to fund worthwhile charity projects to help children, woman and men. Together with a group of like-minded people from the UK licensing Industry, The Light Fund committee was formed and has since raised over £500,000 and in 2011 we gained official charity registration. The Light Fund has been a huge supporter of The Children’s Trust Hospital for many years and a large portion of the sponsorship will go to help desperately sick children at this very special hospital.
I think this will be the last time I will ever be asking for personal sponsorship so anything you can give to this great cause will be hugely appreciated.
