I've been cycling for 6 or 7 years now and the Liverpool-Chester-Liverpool ride last year was my first experience of an organised event. I didn't register with a charity, but I promised myself at the time that if I enjoyed it then I would do it again this year and sign-up to ride for a charity as well. I loved every minute of it! - not just the ride itself, but the atmosphere and camaraderie among the riders, organisers, marshals and spectators that lined the route.     

I chose North West Cancer Research as I wanted to support a charity that benefits the area local to me, where I grew up and where I live now. All my family and friends live in the North West, and like so many other people my age, cancer has stuck its ugly head into our lives with far too much regularity. North West Cancer Research has funded over £40 million worth of research since 2000 - I think it's time I did my bit to make sure their crucial role in fighting cancer continues.
