Story

Mission accomplished! A few piccies attached.

The weather came right on the day and along with my sister Julie I sailed down perfectly. (PS that's not her in the piccies)

A fantastic feeling and thanks to London Parachute School for really great organisation.

There is still time to add to my sponsor total....£6k sounds nice.

Getting near to the day now and just had a great boost as Message Automation has agreed to contribute £1500. Anyone who has any involvement with processing and managing OTC derivatives please go their website (see below) and buy something straight away!!

This gives me a chance to really overachieve on the upper target I set myself so please continue to give generously.

Some of you may know that for the last five years I have run a charity quiz evening in the City to raise money for the Brigitte Trust www.brigittetrust.org in which Lee and I have been involved in various capacities for the last 15 years.

The evening was funded as a marketing exercise by my company Glenview Consulting, with great support from others including my questionmaster Chris Zaremba, COG Recruitment, Metia and especially my friends at Message Automation Ltd. www.messageautomation.com

Having now returned to a proper job I have to find an alternative way to raise the money and I have returned to an idea I had when I turned 50 (a very short while ago of course) but found various excuses to avoid actually doing.

Following advice given to me by a number of people over the years I am going to take a running jump...from 13500 feet! This sounds a bit scary but it gets worse when you do the maths. I make it about 2.5 miles which is about as far as I managed to run in a recent fun run brefore collapsing in a heap.

To quote 'You will experience 40 seconds in freefall and you will have approximately 5 minutes under the parachute. Just imagine freefalling at 120mph, even falling past or through clouds, its just like flying!' So that's alright then.

I am delighted that Chris and Message Automation have agreed to continue their support to get things moving, and I have also added a few pounds from the remnants of Glenview Consulting. The quiz used to raise up to £5000 which is where I would really like to get to..but I have set myself a more modest target to start with. Please don't be put off by the huge donations which I am sure my wealthy friends and associate companies will undoubtedly be making.. (come on you know who you are!)... as every pound is important to The Brigitte Trust.

Brigitte Trust is a small charity with 60 volunteers giving practical and emotional support people who have life threatening illnesses. Last year we helped almost 200 families with a service which is highly complementary to the work of the Hospice movement offering people the chance to increase the time they can spend at home during their illness. We are partially funded by the local NHS PCT but we are desperate for funds to continue and increase this much needed service. We keep costs to a minimum so you can be sure that your money will go directly to training and supervising volunteers and covering unavoidable running expenses.
