Numerous studies have shown the huge impact the pandemic has had on our children and young people’s mental health.
Lockdowns and isolation, school closures and educational disruption, separation from family and friends and ongoing uncertainty…our kids are paying a high price in terms of their mental health.
Richmond has: The 4th worst youth wellbeing scores in London. The 3rd highest rate of hospital admissions for self-harm, and a third of 16-19 year olds already have a mental health diagnosis. Youth mental health is an underfunded area, unfortunately this leads to long waiting list and many not meeting the criteria to receive support. Richmond Borough Mind are creating services for children and young people.
From a personal point of view I have seen mental health problems affect so many people close to me, family and friends. These illnesses are preventable and treatable, and community Mental Health services have huge potential to change and save lives.
I am a novice cyclist, but have begun training for this event. You'll be able to see my training progress as the weeks unfold!
If you can, please donate to help RB Mind keep doing the brilliant work they do support young people our community.
Myself, Fulwell Golf Club and RB Mind would be hugely grateful for your sponsorship. Thank-you!
