Story
I have been raising money for Cancer Research in the build up to the Brighton Marathon, my first marathon attempt. The support and backing of many has been immense.
Working for Oldham Athletic FC, I also wanted to try to raise money for a local charity that the club supports. Emmaus Mossley is the chosen charity.
Emmaus Mossley offers a home and work to previously homeless and unemployed people. It supports 26 companions. It is situated over three floors in Longlands Mill, an old cotton mill. The retail workshop and office space covers the first two floors and the community is situated above.
The companions work in every area of the social enterprise. There is a Second hand Superstore where furniture and household goods are renovated and sold. A smaller Collectables Room houses extra special items. There is a Lucie's Cafe selling drinks and light snacks.
Without the companions' skills, experience, hard work and dedication the charity would not function. Companions are offered the opportunity to learn a variety of skills. There is also an art group and an Upcycling Group that meet each week.
Please give generously in order to help a fantastic local charity to get many people living on the streets a place to live and shelter whilst learning trades and skills to enable them to get their lives and self esteem back on track..........
