Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm fundraising for the NSPCC. After initially training for the 2020 (cancelled for COVID lockdown), then 2021 London Marathon (injured with 4 weeks to go) and getting up to 20 miles+ in my training runs I have now deferred to the October 2022 London Marathon. Looking positively this means I have the dual goal of maintaining my fitness for longer and gives more time to raise more money for the NSPCC! For those who have sponsored me already, don't worry, I will definitely still go through the marathon pain to ensure you get value for money.
I would like to raise money to help NSPCC keep children safe and offer them education and employment opportunities so that they can build a positive future. I was shocked at the statistics I found on the NSPCC website about the number of children who have experienced abuse and I want to help change this.
I last run the London Marathon over a decade ago. Since then I've been blessed to have 3 children which has been amazing but done nothing for my fitness! Getting fit enough to run a marathon again in a decent time (incentivised donations welcome, my time in 2008 was 3 hours and 52 mins!) is going to be a big challenge.
Did you know last Christmas Day that over 600 children called child line because they were feeling so hopeless and desperate? Help me to make a difference.
