Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My partner, Julie McGowan, suffered from a rare condition called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and was on the waiting list for a double lung transplant in early 2020 at the start of the first Covid lockdown.

With the reduction in donors and the deterioration in Julies condition she never made it and tragically passed away on April 18th 2020. Julie was such an amazing person with great determination and strength. I miss her very much as do all of her family, especially her daughter Calley and sister Glynis.

So this year I’m going to run the 2022 Great North Run in her memory to raise funds for the Freeman Heart and Lung Transplant Unit. Julie may not have been one of the lucky ones to receive a second chance but this doesn’t detract from the great work that the FHLTA does to change the lives of so many. Thank you for your support.
