WE GO AGAIN!

Chasing The Sun

Cycling 6500km Norway to Malta Raising money for Alzheimer’s Society

First of all thank you for taking the time to visit and read my page, after a successful cycle challenge last year covering 1200+ miles from lands end to John o’groats and climbing the 3 peaks en route unsupported I have decided this year to give myself a bigger challenge raising money along the way for a great charity!

So the challenge…

The Eurovelo 7 Sun route “ish” !

84 day challenge

6500 cycling Kilometres

Visiting 11 countries

I’ll begin June in Norway in the land of the midnight sun and cycle my way down to the Mediterranean archipelago of Malta.

Starting at North Cape within the Arctic Circle i’ll peddle south through a 7km tunnel 200m below sea level onto Norwegian mainland before passing through Finland and all the way down Sweden, after a ferry aross the Baltic Sea to Denmark and again into Germany, i’ll head through Czech Republic before tackling the alps of Austria and into Italy.

Gliding my way past lake Garda and through Tuscany, i nip into San Marino heading south towards Rome “plus visiting Vatican” it will then be time explore the almafi coast en route to the tip of the Italian boot. Finishing with a short ferry ride to Sicily i’ll cycle the coast with stops inland to my final crossing to Malta arriving 14th September

Timescale, I’m giving myself 84 days to complete the challenge so averaging around 80km a day. I’ll once again do this unsupported so wild camping carrying my full kit on my bike. But also stay in the odd hostel and hotel for a well earned shower & recharge!

Now I want to document this one more with the aim to capture in picture and film as many moments and memories as possible also making a diary and editing/posting sharing the journey highs and lows so will be making time as I go for that.

However!!! I’ve no doubt in my mind this will be a hell of a lot harder physically and mentally than the last trip….. but that’s why it’s called a challenge right?

I’ve also no doubt in my mind that with training “and a new bike/kit” I will complete this!

So Hopfully you will all enjoy the ride with me once again!

Why Alzheimers society?

I have chosen this charity as recently my grandad has been diagnosed with Alzheimers, still living at home with my Nan and with nearly 96 years under his belt he receives help from the memory team at the NHS in association with The Alzheimers society. Making life a little easier not just for him but also my nan who herself has just been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

So this challenge is for him and anyone else that has or is affected by this desease!

Thank you once again for reading and I hope you join me along the way on this challenge! Obviously any sponsorship no matter how big or small would be greatly appreciated for this amazing charity!
