Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit this memorial donation page for Iain Winfield.
Iain loved cycling, in every aspect. It was not just a way to keep fit. He loved watching cycling, especially the Tour de France, Giro and la Vuelta. He took part in races, sometimes from his living room on his turbo trainer, or sometimes in person. His bike collection included his Brompton, on which he took part in a chaotic World Championship in London.
Iain also cycled as his main form of transport, including commuting into central London. It was this aspect of cycling that brought out Iain's campaigning side, chiefly motivated by his strong instinct for social and environmental improvement, but also because he had been on the sharp end, through a couple of accidents. He was a promoter of safe and healthy spaces for cyclists, and wanted to see better provision for cyclists particularly in London.
Sustrans has been chosen because it works to promote and provide safe cycling spaces.
