Story
Background
Watching from afar over the last few months I have been truly inspired and heartened (though not surprised) by the efforts of the community back home in North East of England, in support of the battle that one of our own is currently experiencing. Notwithstanding the amazingly positive and selfless attitude of the man himself!
Similarly, my fellow expats here in Brisbane, Australia have been touched by the situation, particularly as they are mostly young(ish) footballers enjoying life and earning an honest living for themselves and loved ones. Naturally, it didn’t take much effort in getting the ‘Brisbane family’ on board to show some support.
With Kieran’s blessing I am delighted to announce that we will be arranging a day of fundraising on 29th October 2016 that will be freely accessible to anybody wishing to take part and just as easy to make a donation. All funds raised will be split 50/50 between charities in Australia and the United Kingdom. The UK charity has been selected by Kieran and our good friend Alan Dalgarno whilst the Australian Charity was selected by me and endorsed by Kieran unequivocally.

The Challenge
Early morning self-guided group return hike and rock climb (9km / 4hours) to reach the summit (1.2km high) of Mount Warning (Wollumbin National Park) for a spectacular Australian sun rise.
Followed by a late afternoon (7pm) charity football match at Bayside United (20mins from Brisbane) which will see a much-fancied ‘Geordie XI’ captained by yours truly take on a not-so-fancied ‘Mackem XI’ captained by chief mackem and fellow event organiser Ben Ryan.
