Story
We are Edo (aged 10) and Theo (aged 8) and we live in South East London. The third lion in the picture is Zachy (aged 5), who will be our mascot. Our term starts tomorrow and we will be doing online learning. We have been thinking about the children who live very nearby who won't have the things they need to be able to do their schoolwork remotely this term, that includes full tummies, a comfy place to do their work, access to the resources their teachers post and someone to guide them through it.
Our Mum has told us about the Baytree Centre in Brixton. They help local women and girls (mainly immigrants and refugees) to improve their lives. At the moment, their funding is scarce but the women and girls need help more than ever. Some need help to buy food and others to pay their electricity bills. Some would love to have access to a laptop so that the children don't miss a whole term of school and many need a coach or mentor to help them with their school work, perhaps if their parents don't speak English.
We have decided to run 19 miles in a week to try to raise some money. That basically means 5k a day for 6 days. We think that will be really tough for us but we will give it a try! Please will you help us to raise some money for Baytree? Anything you give will make a difference.
£25 will help Baytree to get a family access to appropriate emergency support schemes e.g food banks, deliveries of medicines and benefits
£52 will provide remote mentoring and academic support to 10 girls in need, for 2 weeks
£81 will help a family receive vital gas and electricity packages for a month
£174 will provide a laptop or other digital devices to families where children cannot get online to access Baytree's online sessions and their schoolwork
