Thanks for taking
the time to visit my JustGiving page..............
Many of you will
know that our Son, Harrison, is registered blind, and through the help of many
services, including the National Blind Childrens Society, he is able to access
learning materials and fun activities to help him achieve his full potential,
and is making great progress in doing so...!
Through our
business, and contributing our time, Jackie and I have actively supported Marie
Curie for the last few years, raising and donating literally thousands of pounds, and now it is time to concentrate our efforts
elsewhere.
This Trek is an
opportunity for me to give something back to the charity and help other children
in similar circumstances, and potentially less fortunate, by raising a
significant amount of money for the charity.
£8000 seems like a
lot of money to raise, but just look at what that can offer from the information
below.
If 400 people
sponsor me just £20 each I will reach this target and truly make a life
changing difference to at least one other family, and probably more.
£20 is equivalent
to 1 less bottle of wine or one less packet of cigarettes per month between now
and October when I start the trek. Of course, we will be delighted with any
contribution, but please dig deep and sponsor me as much as you can. £50 is just one less really good night out. If 10
people or more sponsor me over £100 each they will all be placed into a hat and
one lucky person will be drawn to win a brand new iPod.
I’ll be giving up
10 days of work to complete this trek in addition to all the hours training –
when you’re self employed that’s a lot of lost opportunity, so please help me
make this stretching target of £8000 by digging deep and sacrificing a few
small pleasures for the next 3 months.
Take a read of the
NBCS blurb below, you’ll be part of this fantastic vision.
The National Blind
Children's Society’s objective is to enable children and young people with
visual impairment to achieve their educational and recreational
goals. Our vision is a world where children with a visual impairment have
an equal opportunity to the provision of education, which is adequately
supported with sources of information provided in a suitable format for their
needs and where there are no barriers to sports and recreational activities.
We offer help and support from the moment a child is diagnosed, usually at
birth, through each key stage of their education to the age of twenty-five.
By working in collaboration with other organisations and professionals
associated with visual impairment NBCS offer five ‘Key Services’ which are
provided either free or at a nominal charge these are:
·

Advocacy Advice - to ensure the child receives the best possible education in the
correct environment
·
