Story
One in four women in the UK experience domestic violence at some point in their lives and a shocking two women a week are killed by their male partner or ex partner in England and Wales alone.
It’s a subject close to my heart and many others.
West Mercia Women’s Aid are an incredible local charity, providing life saving services to women who need it, as well as working towards a future free from domestic abuse and violence towards women and children.
They run three refuges in Hereford and Worcester helping over 150 women and their families escape domestic abuse each year. Most leave with nothing but the clothes on their back. Many have children with them who need protection too.
While they are safe from their abusers in the refuge, there is both physically and mentally still so much to overcome.
This Christmas, I am working with Shoebox Project UK to give a special gift to each of the women in the care of West Mercia Womens Aid. We are collecting 40 gifts in the form of shoe boxes from other local women.
Full details of how you can ensure your shoebox gift reaches a woman in refuge are on my instagram page @huntersandheels and you can find out more about the special token of love and support at shoeboxproject.org.uk.
If you would love to support this cause, but cannot reach the deadline for Christmas, I have set up this just giving page. Any money raised will go directly to West Mercia Womens Aid to help fund life saving campaigning and support.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you so much for your time, and for visiting this page.
