Story
In just under a month, I am swimming 5k for charity. I'm hoping to take just over 2 hours to swim 100 lengths of the London Aquatics Centre pool. It'll be the furthest I've ever swum.
Swimming plays a key part in looking after my mental health. It's not just about the lap and distances; it's about the quiet headspace it brings me. Being in the water has become the highlight of my day. I wanted a tangible goal to work towards, something positive that would make me feel strong and remind me of the positive force exercise can be. The money raised for this event will be donated to Alzheimer's Society.
'By 2025, there will be 1 million people in the UK living with dementia. Alzheimer’s Society are the only UK charity who fund research, act as a powerful force for change through campaigning, and give expert advice, guidance and support through the most challenging days for people affected by dementia. We are a safe space to turn when people need us, giving help and hope to everyone living with dementia that there is a brighter future ahead.'
