We are primarily a co-ordinating rescue helping stray dogs in Local Authority pounds facing euthanasia after completing their statutory 7 days. We commit to four Local Authorities - Newport City Council, Torfaen County Borough Council, Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council and Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council - to take all their strays irrespective of age, condition or breed. Through the hard work of the Hope Rescue team we have managed to ensure a place of safety for every one of these dogs either in a foster home, kennel space or with another rescue. Our ethos is that "no-one gets left behind". However, the associated costs, particularly kennel costs, hit us exceptionally hard.

We lease private boarding kennel spaces as a "half way house" for those dogs in the pound that have completed their 7 days but do not have a foster home or rescue space secured. These kennel space literally are lifesavers, without them many of the less popular breeds, or harder to rehome dogs would be euthanised as they would have nowhere to go. These dogs are the at the very heart and soul of Hope Rescue and why we exist in the first place. The majority of the kennel dogs are bull breeds and larger breeds, which for various reasons - mainly due to the sheer numbers resulting from over breeding - are difficult to find foster or rescue spaces for. Our kennel costs for the financial year 2013/14 were £69,631 - a staggering £5,800 a month. This appeal is to raise funds towards our annual kennels costs.
