Story
I need to raise some serious amounts of money for volunteering in Japan; I've been lucky enough to have been accepted by Latitude Volunteering to work at a Red Cross hospital for six months. But need to get flights, insurance and stuff - even using my savings ,I haven't got enough!
But, then recently my favourite 'adopted parents' who live in North Devon had some bad news - Sarah recently got diagnosed with breast cancer. She's having treatment as I write this and I would love to raise some money for Macmillan Cancer Support as well. Cancer has affected my family quite a bit over these few years, with my uncle sufering from bowel cancer and undergoing treatment, as well as my aunt who has suffred from breast cancer and is still experiencing complications.
Since starting A levels I figure I've done an average of 6 miles a day cycling to and from college - sometimes two journeys a day. This means by the end of June I will have done approximately 3,420 miles.
Well that's an odd number and I thought I'd make even and add in another 150 miles or so to that total. Especially because I am so going to miss those journeys through driving rain, wind, hail, storms (not) - with a broken rib (sob), sore legs from D of E training...
So please dig deep into your pockets - I would be so grateful if you could give to both causes and I promise not to bore you with the details of my cross border bike ride from Somerset to Devon when I see you!
PS Dad is coming along to support me, so you might just sponsor him to NOT wear his Welsh rugby shirt...
