My 50 mile swimming challenge · 24 August 2013

We help the babies, children and young people treated at Scotland's largest children's hospital, the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. We fund medical equipment, research, play programmes and family support services to ensure that our young patients receive the best possible care and experience.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have set myself a challenge of swimming a total of 50 miles (3,219 lengths of the John Smith swimming pool in Airdrie) to raise money for the Royal Hospital For Sick Children at Yorkhill, Glasgow.  I plan to swim 70 lengths a week and I will update this page with my progress.

Ever since witnessing my friend's wee brother's fight with cancer and how much Yorkhill helped him and saved his life I have been inspired to raise money for them so they can continue their great work.  By raising money it will help them care for children who are with them for a short while and support the ones who sadly won't get home.  This can be done with medical equipment, toys, gifts, special events and their inhouse cinema.  If I can help put a smile on a sick child's face, even for just a short while, I will have done my bit.
