Our story -
We are The Holland Twins and on Sunday 25 April 2010 we ran The London Marathon together for Parkinson’s UK. There is one main reason we ran this year, we have personally seen and experienced close up the affects Parkinson's has on the physical and mental abilities of the person diagnosed and the impact this also has on family members supporting them. Our Dad, Roy has Parkinson's and his sister Glad, also had the disease.
Parkinson's UK provides much support to all those that have been diagnosed with this disease and we wanted to show our appreciation and support in raising funds for them by running. We hope that one day those in Parkinson's research will find a cure.
Running has provided us both with a source of focus throughout many times in our lives particularly when we needed time to think and be together, and this experience we are sure will be no different. Fiona aka FiFi is an experienced Personal Trainer and has run the London, New York and Paris marathons and Deborah aka Dolly has run a number of 10Ks and a half marathon. This was a big challenge for Dolly but she knew that having her twin, FiFi by her side (and Dad thinking about us, David at the finish line and Mum watching over them!) she was able to complete the London Marathon! We provided much entertainment and encouragement to each other throughout those 26.21876 miles and we crossed the finish line holding hands!PLEASE SPONSOR US A PENNY PER MILE OR MORE! A HUGE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
We are loving all the comments! There is a special prize for the one that makes us laugh the most!
