Story
In 2017, I sit at my desk waiting for an email to tell me what final changes I need to make to the film script I've been working on for 10 years. I turn the radio on. I hear a report about the refugee crisis. My mother phones. She tells me the porcelain figure of The Duke of Wellington my father had bought has broken.
The Duke is a funny and poignant show mixing fantasy and reality, playfully challenging our priorities. Written by Shon Dale Jones, two times Fringe First awarded performer and writer behind Edinburgh favourite, Hugh Hughes.
Over 40 performances across the last two Edinburgh Fringes, The Duke has raised over £45,000 for Save the Children's Child Refugee Appeal & Rescue at Sea Appeal. For 2018, we hope to raise further funds for the Emergency Fund - supporting children and families in unforeseen times of Crisis.
The show will take to the regions of the UK and Save the Children charity shops across London this year. Check out Hoipolloi website for details of dates - www.hoipolloi.org.uk
