Story
2020 was a tough year for most being away from family due to Covid-19. However for us it was the year our whole lives started to change.
Sadly my sister in law / Mia’s Aunty was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma after battling for a diagnosis with the NHS and the backlog of cancer patients it had. We saw her be brave & fight through a tough chemo regime from far. We saw her lose her hair & be brave with her family to fight the tumour.
Not long after Christmas 2020, my father in law / Mia’s Lolo (grandad) was rushed into hospital with a tumour in January 2021. Could our lives become anymore complicated and that too during another lockdown?! Sadly despite efforts we lost him on 18th February. 🤍
Whilst he didn’t have the chance to go through chemo, the side affects are something we are too familiar with.
While we support Suzy to fight her battle every step of the way, we decided to help where we can for others. Mia couldn’t get her head around why the medicine makes you lose your hair. How do you explain this to a young child?! She offered to give her hair because ….. sharing is caring.
We both have been growing our hair to donate to help others have hair when they need it the most. No one should have to lose their confidence during this time.
The Little Princess Trust provides free, real-hair wigs for young cancer sufferers or for children and young people experiencing the devastating effects of hair loss. They also fund pioneering, life-saving research into childhood cancers.
We are hoping to have the “chop” before Christmas & are looking to raise money to help create these wigs.
It costs the charity approx £550 to provide a real-hair wig free-of-charge, to their wig recipients. They currently supply over 100 wigs every month. The Little Princess Trust needs financial donations as well as hair donations, in order to fund the actual manufacturing of the wigs and wig-fitting service for those that need it the most.
We would love to be able to donate the cost of at least two wigs so that our hair come in use for someone out there in their time of need. We’ve got enough for two, we are now going for a third!
Thank you for helping us get there.
