Story
Our lives changed forever on 7/18/2021.. With the birth of our son, Griffin Thomas Hiles, we experienced both the best and worst night of our lives. After over 24 hours of labor, the doctors called for an emergency C-section - less than 5 minutes later Griffin made a brief appearance for us before being rushed away to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital.
We were petrified at first...his entire body was covered with monitors and they were using machines to help him breathe - the feeling of helplessness was overwhelming.
Within the first hour, we could tell that Griffin was surrounded by his new extended family and the Good Samaritan NICU Team was going to care for him as if he was their own. Even outside of his medical care, they constantly showed him love and affection 24/7.. we would come down in the middle of the night and on several occasions one of the nurses would be hugging and rocking him as he slept.
We cannot thank Griffin's doctors and nurses enough - Lyndsay, Alicia, Kimberly, Cheri, Maria, Molly, Arlene, Haley, Hannah, Jan, Laurel, Rachel - and many more.
We are humbled to be able to help support the amazing men and women that saved our son's life and greatly appreciate those of you that join us in this effort.
