Story
On a gloriously sunny Bank Holiday week-end almost 30 years ago I set out on an adventure with the man who was my best friend and the love of my life.
We had almost 25 more years together, celebrating life's joys , including our two wonderful children, and supporting each other through the challenges that life throws up. There were a few stressful patches along the way, but I never ever doubted that only death would part us.
Unfortunately it did - far too early.
James' loss - to me and to Jonnie and Tash - can never be assuaged, but we were lucky to have had such an exceptional man for a husband and a father. He had an amazing intellect, a dry wit and there was never really anyone else I would rather spend time with. He made me laugh and he made me glad to be alive.
I am holding a fund-raising lunch on Saturday 26th August to celebrate what would have been our 30th wedding anniversary. If you cannot make the lunch, or would prefer to donate through JustGiving, I would be very grateful for all donations for NWCR. It is a fantastic cancer research charity dedicated to helping stop cancer sooner.
