Story
Heather loves wild, crazy playtimes, but she also really needs quiet times to de-stress and decompress. This is a project she is desperate to see come to fruition - she would absolutely love to have a quiet space for more chilled times at break!
The School Parliament, led by children from each class, has identified a need for a quiet play zone on the playground which can be used at break and lunchtimes. The area will be a fenced, inclusive space with a comfortable all-weather surface, plenty of seating spots and a large covered shelter which will double up as a sheltered outdoor learning area. Located on the existing KS2 playground this will benefit a huge number of children across the school. Break and lunchtimes in our large 3 form entry school can be a noisy, busy environment which some children find overwhelming. A designated quiet zone with quiet activities on offer is a great way to help these children wind down and process the demanding school day. It will enable these children to meet like-minded peers who they perhaps wouldn’t otherwise come across, and give them a chance to connect and support each other.
