Story
Loneliness is an ever-present challenge for the elderly and the impact of the Coronavirus has exacerbated an already difficult situation. During lockdown, I have been volunteering for my Mum’s charity, Painting Our World In Silver. The charity has one simple goal: to fight loneliness in the elderly.
Typically, Painting Our World In Silver hosts monthly social events for elderly guests in Surrey but, due to the lockdown, the events have been put on hold to protect our guests. The Charity is now busy creating craft care packages of which we have now delivered over 1000 to those that are vulnerable or in isolation. Each care package costs roughly £5 and we've teamed up with Age UK, Age Concern and The Salvation Army to help deliver the care packages to individuals.
My aim is to fundraise and make 200 care packages for Painting Our World In Silver. The charity is very important to me, founded by my Mum. In addition, having an elderly grandmother who is widowed and often feels isolated, I am very proud to be able to help others in a similar situation where I can.
