Story
In April 2015 I started running. I was unfit and overweight. Since then I have completed various 10ks & 2 half marathons and fallen in love with running. The next hurdle is tackling the full 26.2 miles.
2 Years after lacing up for the first time I am running not one but two marathons in the space of a fortnight. It might not be of Eddie Izzard proportions but for someone who grew up hating running and exercise this is a huge challenge to take on.
I will be running both marathons in aid of The Royal Marsden Cancer charity. Before my grandma passed the hospital had a huge part to play in her survival of bowel cancer. I can't imagine a childhood where I grew up without her in my life at all.
I know so many people that have been personally affected by the tragedy and uncertainties that a cancer diagnosis can bring, including a deep lying history within my own family. Donations to The Royal Marsden not only contribute to researching new ways of combatting the disease but also providing invaluable diagnosis, treatment, care and support for patients and their families.
I fully expect that when I cross the finish line at both Brighton and London I will be a physical and emotional wreck - any support you can offer to make this worthwhile will be greatly received!
