Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you will know, I’m not a serious runner and would rather be at home, or at a party, with a glass of wine in my hand! I decided that I would enter the Cambridge half marathon in March 2020 for a number of reasons; one being a personal achievement for me, the second to show my two girls that it's good to push yourself out of your comfort zone occasionally and, lastly, because l thought it would be a good idea to raise some money for Alzheimer’s research. My mum developed Alzheimer’s 10 years ago and at first it was manageable, but she rapidly declined about five years ago and has been in a care home for just over the last three. This awful disease has meant that she has never been able to interact or appreciate her grandchildren and it has robbed her of everything she once was. I would really like to raise some money to help support the Alzheimer's charity in researching a cure for this cruel and unforgiving disease. People who know me well have heard me joke about going the same way as my mum, but the reality is that it could happen to any one of us. This is something I’ve never done before and any sponsorship you can donate would be massively appreciated and mean a great deal to me. Thank you in advance. Love Helen x
