Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am running the Virgin London Marathon on 26th April 2015. I have run the marathon before in 1999 & 1997 however I had a knee injury in 99 which meant I had to walk the last 9 miles........I promised myself that I would be back as I have unfinished business with the London Marathon! I was 40 this year so what better time to dig out my trainers! My gorgeous family are my very best supporters - 3 of which weren't around 16 years ago. They are my inspiration to believe I can do anything as they all seem to think I can! Their belief is infectious. Katie is a hard task master on the effort sessions & Mash has been churning out some miles with me too. I have a great circle of friends and wider family who also seem to think I can do this & their support is very special to me too. Whether it is running next to me, ferrying my children around, cooking me tea or just believing in me it all helps me get to the start line!
I have chosen to run for the Youth Sport Trust as it is a charity very close to my heart. I have seen the impact that PE & sport can have on young people's lives both personally and professionally. The YST run many different programmes both UK & abroad targeting a whole range of young people from the talented to disaffected, from disability sport to health & well being programmes. They engage young people in sport in many different roles as well as support schools NGBs, clubs & talent pathways. The mission statement of the Youth Sport Trust is to use the power of sport to 'build a brighter future for young people' .
