Story
I first heard about The Huntington’s Disease Association back in 2018. My oldest friends, Helen and Dave, had found out they were at risk of having Huntington’s - plus the potential of it being passed to their children.
The impact of this news was huge, it was traumatic and extremely difficult to process. You never know when you might need the help from a charity. They support you through the most challenging periods of your life. HDA provided essential support to Dave and Helen - advice, guidance, care - in a way that really no one else could.
I knew I wanted to run the marathon to support HDA as soon as I heard the news about the disease from Helen and Dave. I’d literally run back to back marathons to help these friends - but London seems most appropriate!
I’ll be running alongside Dave himself - it’s his first marathon and without doubt my last. It will be an emotional day but we have the best motivation possible to carry us round.
The Huntington's Disease Association supports anyone who is affected by Huntington's disease across England and Wales. We pursue the best possible care; provide training & advice to families and professionals; raise awareness, and promote research towards better treatment and care.
