Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I DID IT!! I finished in 6 hours and 26 mins, am sore and aching but it was the best experience, the people supporting the runners were fantastic and helped to keep everyone going. I run the first fifteen miles and then my feet decided that was enough and I mainly walked the rest.
I would like to thank everyone who has supported me and for the amazing donations that have been made so far, it is such a wonderful charity and every penny will go towards helping sufferers and their families.
If you have not donated and are able to, any amount would be greatly appreciated.
Once again can I say a massive Thank You to everyone for the support and help in my training and on the day.
I Ran the 2010 London Marathon in support of the Cardiomyopathy Association (CMA). The charity provides information and support to people and families affected by the heart condition cardiomyopathy. I have personally been affected by this as my Dad was diagnosed with this condition.
It took many years for them to diagnose the condition in my Dad and this meant it had a massive effect not only on him with the pain and many hospital visits but also for my mum, myself and my two brothers. It was not until he was diagnosed in 1991 in St Georges Hospital London, that they were able to properly stabalise his condition with medication, even though he is regularly checked at The Heart Hospital again in London, it is a lifetime condition which will not be 'cured' that is why I feel that the charity does an amazing job at creating awareness and helps to raise funds for research and to help sufferers and their families.
Both of my brothers have previously done the Marathon in aid of this charirty to raise funds and it is something we as a family are extremely proud to be members of.
I am a person who is not a lover of exercise and had no interest in running until I was offered a place in the Marathon, I have struggled on cold winter nights with the snow and ice
Please take the time to read this and think about the impact a condition such as this can have on one person and their family, there are many sufferers all over the world and this wonderful charity is making a difference.
More detail about their work can be found at www.cardiomyopathy.org .
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So please please give what you can and help me support the CMA.
Thank you.
