Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you know about me: I’m overweight I’m unfit and I hate walking!! What you will also know is I lost my hero to cancer last year (my Grandad) and really wanted to do something special to honour such a great man.
I decided I wanted my challenge to
1, Not be anything I would actually like to do as I felt it needed to be something hard and not a treat.
2, Something that will remind me of the great man I’m doing it for.
I’m doing the Peak District challenge because 1, it’s a 50km walk that will be very hard work and 2,my Grandad loved to walk in the Peak District and the route goes past hope cross, a place very close to my heart that reminds me of my Grandad.
The charity I have chosen is very close to my Heart
Helens Trust aim to help remove the barriers that may be preventing a person from staying at home by funding and providing care and equipment. Some examples of things they have provided in the past are:
packages of care which meet individuals needs.
transport to and from hospital appointments to enable the person to stay at home.
in many cases it is small things that make a big difference
Why it is so important to stay at home
Returning to your own home, even after just a short time, can be one of the most comforting feelings.
Relaxing in your own chair, drinking tea from your favourite cup or watching your pets play in the garden are simple pleasures we can all take for granted.
At the most challenging of times these home comforts can make an even bigger difference.
I would really appreciate the smallest of donations to help me raise my target for Helens Trust
I plan to show my progress through a Facebook page
