Story
I’m really proud to work for a university that can have such a huge impact during this pandemic. As well as so many of our staff, students and alumni working on the front line to support the NHS, we have an amazing team of researchers doing some great work into the diagnostics and treatment of coronavirus and investigating the development of a vaccine. We’ve set up a research fund to support this work and I wanted to do something to support it.
I’d usually run, but haven’t been able to run very far in my area at the moment with the current social distancing measures in place and trying to run anything more than about 1km in my back garden might be a bit of a stretch! We do have some 1m high steps on our garden patio, so I thought I’d try something a bit different by walking up and down the height of Ben Nevis on these steps. This means I’ll have to walk up and down them 1,345 times, so I’ll need a good audiobook to get me through a few hours of walking up and down the same stairs…
I'm planning on doing the 'hike' next Saturday, 30th May at 10am. I'll create a Facebook page for anyone who wants to watch it on livestream (although I'm sure you have better things to do with your Saturdays!) Otherwise I'll try to use the recording to put together a timelapse video or something similar.
If you’d like to help me raise money, please donate here. You can read more about the fund below. Any donations will be really appreciated!
