Story
On the 7th January 2021, our lovely Mum and wife, lost her short battle with her immunotherapy treatment for Melanoma.
Heather's autoimmune disease, Myasthenia Gravis severely kicked off after her first infusion of the immunotherapy. Whilst immunotherapy stimulates the immune system to attack the cancer, there is risk of it stimulating the autoimmune disease which attacked her organs as well, which is what happened.
This is why we would like to raise money in her name for a charity that is focused on the research around this disease as well as providing support and advice for people affected by it.
Whilst we miss her dearly and would do anything to get her back, the next best thing that we can do is to help build knowledge around this disease so that it can be better treated/managed as a whole as well as being able to improve knowledge and support for people who suffer from Myasthenia Gravis that also need immunotherapy treatment.
Heather's funeral will be on the 4th February which will obviously be limited on numbers due to Covid. However, we will be celebrating her life later in the year (rules dependent but planning for early September 2021) where we will be inviting ALL family and friends to help us celebrate the amazing woman that she was.
