We provide services and support to help people with poor immune systems.

Story

I was diagnosed with CVID in 2012 When i was in my final year of University, There has been many doctor and hospital visits since.Common variable immune deficiency (CVID) is the name for a group of conditions that affect how the body’s immune system makes antibodies and fights infections.

If you have CVID you are unable to make protective antibodies and therefore become susceptible to infections. Both males and females can be affected by CVID. The clinical features of CVID can vary from mild in those who suffer only from infections to severe in those with disease-related complications.

I have a deficiency of  Immunoglobulin G (IgG) I am unable to make IgG this means that i am unable to fight infections against mainly bacteria, but also viruses, parasites and fungi, as well as people with a fully working immune system.

There have been times where I was unable to walk due to the illness affecting my joints, I lost a lot of weight rapidly in 2014 over 2 stones in 2 months, there's been coughs, colds and all other bugs over the years but I wont let it keep me down.

Just last year I started home therapy for CVID which means less trips to the hospital for weekly transfusions, I struggled for a while with Sub cut infusions- This is where you place needles just under the skin. Luckily My Dad was on hand to take on the challenge of learning to put in a IV for me and now we do it at home each week.

We wanted to do something different to raise money and awareness of CVID and what better way than to cycle up a mountain 3 times in 24hrs?  http://www.clubcinglesventoux.org/en/

We are taking on the challenge on the 7th of Sept 2019.

My Dad has been with me throughout all the struggles with my CVID and now hes going to be with me as we train to take on the mountain, without his support I would never have gotten to the stage I at.

I'm sure there will be moments where he even gives my bike a little extra push in the months to come.
