Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm going to be doing the Sheffield Half Marathon on the 25th April 2010. Crazy? Yes, maybe. Anyone who knows me knows I can't run. I have no idea how I'm going to make it round the course since its 21km....and right now I can just about do 5km whilst hyperventilating!

Help for Heroes is a fairly new charity and they help our soldiers who are out fighting for our Country everyday. They offer help to those that are injured to help them get back on track and live normal lives, lives they have put at risk for us, citizen's of the UK.

"It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."

On a more personal note, this charity means a lot to me because my friend Danny Simpson died in Afghanistan on July 10th 2009. I like to think that had he survived the explosion, he would have had the help from these guys to help him live the normal life he deserved. They are heroes in my eyes. They need our support.

Those boys out there put their life on the line every single day. All I ask is for a little donation to give Help for Heroes the resources to give something back to the men who give so much for us...and also to see me somehow drag myself around a 13mile course in Sheffield!!!

100% of the money you donate will go to the wounded.
