Dear families,

As you know, our school
is part of the Schools Learning Alliance, a group of fifteen schools who
collaborate to develop school led improvement.

During the week of 17^th May 2021, we will be collaborating with a different, yet equally crucial goal in mind – raising funds for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Coronavirus Appeal in aid of India.

Some of us may have relatives in India, have lived or holidayed there but all of us are, I’m sure, horrified by the shear numbers of people affected by Coronavirus in India right now and the scale of the challenges communities are facing in their effort to survive.

Unlike other disasters, where we hear about nations in difficulties but perhaps can’t completely empathise, the Coronavirus Crisis has affected us all and leaves us in no doubt of the terror that must be gripping families in India every day.

In order to add our support to that being offered from around the world, SLA schools will be holding cricket themed events throughout the week of 17^th May 2021.

At Hawkedon our pupils will all take part in a class cricket event and we are asking families to sponsor their child on for the cricket runs they achieve. Each child will find out how many runs they achieve during their classes allotted cricket event and we welcome sponsorship of any size whether its 5p a run or £5

This money will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee who are channeling all current donations to their India Appeal. Information on this charity organisation can be found here.

We do not want to put a ceiling on the amount we raise by asking for a set amount as is often suggested when fundraising. We simply ask that you give what you can at this time and we thank you for your support.
