Motherhood is undoubtedly one of the most life-altering and fulfilling experiences in a woman's life, however for thousands of women in Afghanistan this special time is associated with poor health and extreme risk. Routine check-ups and essential medication are non-existent and minor complications during pregnancy can lead to death for both mother and child.
Afghanistan has one of the highest rates of maternal deaths in the world; the following facts will help you understand how urgently the mothers of Afghanistan and their babies need our help:
The sponsorship money you will raise whilst taking part in this challenge will go a long way in supporting our Motherkind Clinic in the Puleh Charki district of Afghanistan and will help reduce maternal mortality whilst promoting maternal health in Afghanistan. At Muslim Hands we believe that by working on two main areas such as training and recruiting skilled birth attendants and providing antenatal care, we will continue to make a significant impact.
