Story
“You’re crazy.”
This is the response people are likely to give upon announcing your decision to embark on the Oxfam trailtrekkers but i think Its funny how that when you turn 40 that all of a sudden you feel you need to prove to yourself that you can take on these challenges.
On the 1st of June i am undertaking a challenge, in fact the Gold challenge of the Oxfam Trailtrekkers in the Yorkshire dales. This is a 100km hike that must be completed in 30 hours, which means through the night and non stop. I will be doing the Challenge with 3 good friends and though its a case of the blind leading the blind, we are determined to complete it.
More info can be found here: http://www.oxfam.org.uk/trailtrekker/the-challenge
The other reason i am doing it is that i feel i don't do enough for charity. This gives me a chance to contribute in a small way and i am hoping that by you making a donation to this site, you can have that same feeling.
The next bit is some helpful standard text from JustGiving to put some minds at rest:
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity
