Story
Having deferred my Marathon place last year due to injury, I am now fit and ready to tackle the London Marathon 2016 with aplomb (2016 is a better year anyway). Since returning from my injury, I have continued running steadily in order to get my duck feet and chicken legs accustomed to the rigours of marathon training, clocking up over 950 miles in the process.
I am running in support of the University of Bristol Cancer Research Fund, who were kind enough to allow me to defer my place and pick up my funding from where I left off.
Like millions of others, my life and the lives of loved ones have been affected by cancer and the opportunity to raise money to help fight the illness is an exciting one. The University of Bristol performs a broad range of ground-breaking work, from basic research designed to identify new drug targets, through to studies designed to improve the quality of life of cancer patients and their families. Money raised will go towards funding research into multiple areas - childhood cancer, brain cancer & prostate cancer to name a few. The fund is particularly important as it supports projects during their earliest stages, which is critical as results secure further research funding for larger and more ambitious studies.
Your support means a lot to both the charity, which is small and relies on its donations, and to me as it will inspire me through the long and painful miles.
Anyone at all interested in following the progress of a very average runner can do so on my Strava page: http://www.strava.com/athletes/collins_harry
Thanks for your support,
