Story
I (Harry) have loved classic minis from a very young age ever since my dad introduced me to the film The Italian Job. We bought the film in the Boxing Day sales at Wolverhampton when I was a wee lad. Until that day cars were just an object to me of everyday life; but the film gave the three little minis an almost human personality bringing them to life! That was that, I was hooked.
I bought my first mini at the age of twelve for £400 from my dads friend. Since then I've owned a further four, the latest of which I bought for my partner Charlotte. It's a 1995 Rover Mini Cooper called Arthur. Needless to say Charlotte loves it and is now hooked with the mini bug.
I came up with the idea of traveling to Turin, where the original film was shot, in Arthur with Charlotte. However then we heard about an organisation that do pre-planned trips for mini enthusiasts which also raises money for charity on the way, we decided we would do that instead of going it alone.
The Italian Job 2017 is the must-do Mini event for everyone who’s ever wanted to re-create the original Michael Caine film. We will get the chance to drive round the track at Monza and explore Emilia-Romagna the land of Ducati, Lamborghini and Ferrari
We meet in Imola on Friday 27th October 2017 where will be shown the very best of the beautiful Italian Region of Emilia Romagna, the land of art, motors and flavours, then we’ll all be off to Turin for two action-packed days. We will experience all the fun of the Italian Job annual regularity drive and even get an awesome police escort around the city
before saying farewell to this motor city from the rooftop of the iconic FIAT factory, The LINGOTTO – as featured in the film!
We pay for the trip ourselves but raise money on the way and before by gaining sponsorship for our participation. Companies and individuals can sponsor us. Companies who do will even get their logo on our mini which will be marked up for the event!
PLEASE help us raise money by donating or if your a company looking to sponsor us please contact me.
