Headway Jersey supports islanders and their families who are affected by a brain injury. Our day centre serves as a sanctuary where members can engage in meaningful activities, learn new skills, build confidence, connect with others, combat isolation and develop coping strategies for everyday life.

Story

I have completed the West Highland Way and the London Marathon twice, along with the the Green Light Around the Rock Ultra Marathon in aid of Headway Jersey.

I choose Headway as my childhood pal, Frank, accesses the  centre and the charity have helped him greatly. I also volunteer for the charity in a variety of ways and Headway feels like family to me now.

This is my most physically demanding challenge yet - ascending and descending Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest  free standing mountain in the world,  in under 24 hours. Most people who climb this mountain take at least 6 days.

The majority of this challenge is done at altitude  - 3000 meters above sea level. This can have a tremendous impact on the body, effecting breathing, ability and mental agility.
