Story
Hi! My name’s Harry, I’m 21, and in April next year I’ll be running the London Marathon in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.
My family and I first came into contact with Macmillan when my dad was diagnosed with Metastatic Lung Cancer in October 2022. My dad only lived for three months following his diagnosis, and this time was a rollercoaster of emotions and practical hurdles for our family. However, things were made a little easier by the incredible work of Macmillan. It’s really hard to understand the value of what Macmillan do without experiencing it first hand; they walk into situations of total confusion and grief and do whatever they can to help. They liaise with hospitals and other services on your behalf, provide counseling and emotional support for the patient and their family, translate medical jargon, provide financial assistance where needed, help to adapt homes, and in general just provide a steady, knowledgeable presence while things are falling apart.
I’d greatly appreciate any donations to this amazing charity, and if you’re in London on the day give me a cheer because I might need it.
Harry
