I am running 874 miles for Emmaus Mossley because I want to help the charity survive and thrive following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hello and thank you for visiting my fundraising page. This year I have set myself the challenge of running 874 miles – the traditional distance by road from Land’s End to John o’ Groats. My plan is to complete this distance in multiple legs throughout 2021, clocking up the miles to support my physical and mental health but also to raise funds and awareness for Emmaus Mossley and a few other causes close to my heart.

In my day job as Community Leader at Emmaus Mossley, I see first-hand how the charity provides a home, companionship, support and inspiration to people who have experienced homelessness. Emmaus Mossley supports 26 formerly homeless people (known as companions) by providing them with a home, work and support in a community setting. The people we support inspire me each day and I hope that some of them will be able to join me on certain legs of the run (or walk), to benefit their own health and wellbeing.

We normally do some fun runs and fundraisers as a community each year, so my LEJOG challenge is a continuation of that. After the year we’ve just had, Emmaus and many other charities are facing a massive shortfall in revenue. I’m really keen to raise awareness of Emmaus and help the charity recover from lost income as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. In solidarity with other causes, certain 5k and 10k legs of my run will also raise awareness and support a few other charities too.
