Story
Smart Futures is a ten month paid work experience Program for 16 and 17 year old's from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK. It is a valuable experience for students both in terms of going through an application process and also in terms of the interactive workshops that they will participate in. Students gain a variety of transferable skills that will give them a head start in their career. The Program can make students more employable, helping them to get a job after school or go onto higher education. Students who have been eligible for free school meals within the past 6 years. As well as paid work experience in a range of companies, students receive two weeks of classroom based skills training improving their teamwork and communication skills and are given a personal mentor to provide ongoing support. Smart Futures currently runs in the UK cities of Birmingham, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Hull, Luton, Newcastle, Reading and Southampton.
Blue Prism is also involved and is supporting 10 young people on the Smart Futures Program, starting Easter 2020, and with the potential for significant growth in year 2.
