Story
Help Hannah towards her £3,150 fundraising target towards helping the indigenous people and wildlife of Costa Rica & Nicaragua.
Hannah is fundraising for Raleigh International, a sustainable development charity that works with local communities in developing countries towards eradicating poverty. Raleigh International also carries out sustainable conservation work in national parks and other remote areas ensuring long-lasting protection of the natural environment.
Hannah will be joining Raleigh International in Costa Rica & Nicaragua (2nd July - 8th September 2014) where she will be put to the test by engaging in physically demanding work whilst living in self-built jungle-camps.
Her time will involve working on:
A 19-day community project living with an indigenous host family whilst building gravity-fed water systems and schools for the local people, as well as teaching local communities about sanitation and sustainability,
A 19-day environmental project protecting turtles eggs from poachers and conservation work including reforestation and building paths in some of the countries national parks, & a
250-kilometre hike lasting 19 days, spanning the width of Central America traversing through rainforest & jungle, and over mountains & volcanoes.
In order for Hannah to volunteer on Raleigh International's 10-week expedition she needs to raise a total of £3,150. She hopes to achieve this goal by completing a 94-mile hike along 'The Ridgeway' - a national trail said to be the oldest route in Britain. She will be starting the hike in Avebury, Wiltshire, on the 19th June and finishing at her home in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, after 6 testing days of hiking and camping staying as self-sufficient as possible.
Hannah will also be fundraising for Raleigh International through the Live Below the Line challenge - where she will feed herself on less than £1 a day (or €1.20 in Paris!) for 5 days, from the 28th April-2nd May 2014. Throughout the challenge she will be raising awareness of the 1.2 billion people worldwide living below the poverty line in extreme poverty.

Therefore I ask you to kindly make a donation towards this cause - all donations towards the expedition and Raleigh International will be greatly appreciated and will directly make a positive difference to the people and ecosystems of Costa Rica & Nicaragua.
On return to the UK I will be holding an evening or two sharing my experiences and tales but most importantly reflecting on my achievements and work carried out, and how your donations helped myself and other volunteers achieve these goals.
