Story
In 2020 my daughter Connie at just 12 years old was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, an aggressive type of bone cancer. Our world fell apart.
Following diagnosis Connie spent 9 months enduring the worst chemotherapy treatment and surgeries to remove the tumour. It was at this stage when we were waiting for that telephone call to tell us whether they could save her leg that I vowed to use mine to raise much needed funds for research.
Connie spent months learning to walk again and as her right leg is mostly metal she will never be able to run.
Connie is now 2 years post-chemo and everything is currently stable.
The furthest I have ever ran is 6km, this is going to be the biggest physical challenge I have ever undertaken.
The Bone Cancer Research Trust is dedicated to saving lives & improving outcomes for people affected by primary bone cancer. Despite being small, they fund more research projects exploring primary bone cancer than any other organisation. Other large UK cancer research charities do not prioritise bone cancer patients, in 2019 just 0.028% of their research spend went to bone cancer – not even close to 1%!Last year alone, Bone Cancer Research Trust committed an incredible £807,824 to pioneering bone cancer research - to save lives!
