Story
So, I've always been a swimmer, but I've got a bit better at it again recently. And I've always run when I've not been able to swim (albeit badly) and so I thought 'well that's nearly there' and decided to do a triathlon.
I bought a cheap racing bike (so far I have not fallen off; accomplishment), and will get a tri-suit (it's what sports shops call the awesome lycra onesies you get to wear for swimming/cycling/running in one go) and on the 22nd of April complete my first ever triathlon at Burton Waters in Lincoln.
I thought it would be a good excuse to try and raise some money for something ace, and after thinking about the big ones (Women's Aid, Amnesty International, Shelter, etc.) I decided to raise money for the bloody brilliant, and much lower profile FareShare - I discovered them last year in search of a non-religious charity that was giving food to people and families who are being tipped past being able to afford to feed themselves (through job losses, cost of living increases, and by cuts by the fucking coalition government, yes, politics, sorry).
They work locally all over the UK, including near me in Leicester, and gather food that would otherwise be thrown away from supermarkets etc., train people to redistribute it, offer training in nutrition and cooking, and generally give food out to those who need it. Simple, but makes all the difference to a lot of people. Please give them your cash.
And I promise to post plenty pictures of the onesie.
