Story
Thanks for taking the time to donate to a charity that our family will continue to support for years to come.
Dad (Paul) was diagnosed with multiple brain tumors on 22nd December 2022 and told they were inoperable. We were given a number to call at Addenbrookes but when we called them the next day to discuss what happens next, they were closed for the Christmas period. Feeling very lost and overwhelmed with dad's diagnosis, I called St Elizabeth Hospice's OneCall number for some advice. After a 10min conversation I felt better knowing we could get support from them.
Unfortunately Dad deteriorated and a week after being diagnosed, he was taken to hospital and then onto St Elizabeth Hospice. The support everyone at the hospice gave to us as a family was truly amazing and nothing was too much. He was very popular with all staff. They loved his sense of humour and banter and staff would pop in and say hi even if they weren't working on his ward.
Dad passed away peacefully on 13th February 2023 at St Elizabeth Hospice and we are grateful for everything they have done for Dad and us.
St Elizabeth Hospice is an independent Suffolk charity, which every year delivers care to over 3,000 patients and their families throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney, who are living with a progressive or life-limiting illness.
These services cost £12.9m to facilitate each year, with the charity raising 70% of funds via revenue streams and the generosity of the community through support of its retail shops and fundraising activities.
